Abdullah Badawi

Prime Minister of Malaysia (2003-2009)

Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi is a Malaysian politician who served as Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2003 to 2009, as well as a long tenure as a Member of the Malaysian Parliament. As President of the United Malays National Organisation, the largest political party in Malaysia, his policies were strongly associated with human development  and the fight against corrupton, and he was granted the title of "Tun" by the King for his service to the nation. He has been heavily involved in international affairs, having chaired the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, ASEAN and the Non-Aligned Movement during his tenure. He graduated from the University of Malaya with a degree in Islamic Studies, and is also known for his poetry - most notably, his work entitled "I Seek Eternal Peace."
