Alexander Likhotal is President of Green Cross International, an organisation which works on cross-cutting issues of sustainability and security. Previously an advisor to President Gorbachev, Dr. Likhotal went on to work at with Gorbachev Foundation as International and Media Director. Since joining Green Cross International in 1996 he has been actively involved in furthering the sustainable development agenda. Dr. Likhotal started his academic career as a lecturer at the Moscow State Institute for International Affairs, and later became senior research fellow at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. In 1988 he became Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the Diplomatic Academy and Vice-Rector of the Academy. He has also taught at Northeastern University in Boston.
