Rosen Plevneliev is a Bulgarian politician and, since 2012, the current President of Bulgaria. Among his priorities are administrative reforms, energy efficiency and energy independence, as well as the de-communisation of the public services. Plevneliev has overseen a turbulent period in Bulgarian politics, and has so far had to appoint two caretaker governments in line with his constitutional duties. He also organised the "Dialogue with Citizens" initiative to encourage public engagement in the political process. Previously a Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Plevneliev trained in microprocessor technology before establishing a successful construction company after the fall of communism. He is a member of the "Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria" party.
