Boris Tadić is a Serbian politician who served as President of his country from 2004-2012. Prior to his presidency, Tadić served as the last Minister of Telecommunications of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and as the first Minister of Defence of Serbia and Montenegro. He is a leading advocate of Serbia's European integration. A long-time member and President of the Democratic Party, he eventually stood down and formed his own Social Democratic Party in advance of the 2014 elections. He graduated from theUniversity of Belgrade with a degree in psychology, and both practiced and taught psychology before entering politics. He was arrested during his studies for political demonstration and spent one month in penal labour.
