Kateryna Yushchenko

First Lady of Ukraine (2005-2010)

Kateryna Yushchenko is a Ukrainian-American charity activist, former civil servant and First Lady of Ukraine. Born in Chicago to Ukrainian parents, Yushchenko worked in the US State Department under the Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs, as well as at the White House and US Congress. After Ukraine declared its independence, she was a co-founder and the vice-president of Ukraine-USA Foundation. Perhaps best known as the wife of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, whom she met while working at KPMG, she now serves as Chair of the Ukraine 3000 International Foundation, which aims to improve the health of Ukraine's children. Yushchenko holds a bachelor's degree in International Economics from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
